About Thorpes Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic

Thorpes Physiotherapy Sandhurst is a private physiotherapy clinic dedicated to providing expert physiotherapy care to the people of the surrounding areas. We also have clinics at Yateley and Fleet, covering the local towns of Hartley Wintney, Aldershot, Finchampstead, Crowthorne, Farnborough and Camberley.

Our expert staff focus on getting the best outcome for all our patients, continually learning new assessment and treatment methods and providing a practical treatment plan for each individual person.

Our services include physiotherapy for musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries, neurological physiotherapy for conditions such as stroke and MS, paediatric physiotherapy, Pilates, acupuncture and massage. We also perform diagnostic ultrasound and injections and nutritional advice.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Our highly qualified staff give expert assessments and treatments for a wide variety of conditions including back pain, sciatica, neck pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, other joint and muscle pains, headaches and postural problems. Typical treatments we offer include joint mobilisations, manipulation, massage, electrotherapy including ultrasound, posture advice and exercise programmes, core stability, acupuncture, Pilates, balance and gait training and taping.

Paediatric Physiotherapy

We provide physiotherapy for children in Fleet, Sandhurst and Yateley. We can help movement and functional abilities in children affected by delayed development, illnesses or injuries.

We offer specialised physiotherapy for children up to 16 years of age for problems such as:

  • Neuromuscular problems such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy
  • Problems with bones and joints
  • Respiratory conditions such as cystic fibrosis and asthma
  • Before or after surgical intervention
  • Developmental delay, clumsiness or falling regularly

The initial assessment lasts about 45 minutes and then we go over the needs of your child with you to make a tailored treatment programme.

Neurological Physiotherapy At Thorpes Physiotherapy we have a team of physios who specialise in the assessment and treatment of people with neurological impairments. The aim is to get the maximum functional independence from each person at the stage of their illness.

Conditions we deal with include:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Stroke
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Parkinson's Disease

and many other neurological conditions. We cover a large area of North Hampshire, East Berkshire and West Surrey.

You can come to one of our clinics or we can come to your home if that's more convenient. Our Physiotherapists can teach your family or your carers how to help with your stretching and home strengthening programme.

Run Lab to Improve Your Running

We use modern technology to analyse a person's running style and to identify their biomechanical profile.

  • Movements analysis using wireless sensors attached to parts of the body. These feed back data to our computers.
  • Slow-motion video of you running, slowed down to one eighth speed, allows us to analyse your running style in detail
  • From the results, we test your strength and flexibility to find weaknesses we can work on

After the one hour consultation you will be given a printed report of the results and an action plan to address any issues. You may need a strengthening programme or a course of treatment to follow, and we will re-test you about four to six weeks later to check progress.

Diagnostic Ultrasound and Guided Injections

Diagnostic ultrasound scanning is a very useful tool to narrow down the diagnosis to a particular structure or tissue. This gives immediate results and can be done statically or while the tissues in question are moving.

Ultrasound is a very safe technique which can be usefully repeated to check on the progress of a problem. We have a very skilled sonographer who does scans on a Tuesday. Ultrasound guided injections (much more accurate than without guidance) may also be helpful and we can provide those too.

Before I had knee replacement I attended Thorpes Physio Hydro pool and was guided through pre op exercises. This helped my muscle strength tremendously in preparation for my knee replacement recovery. I then attended Thorpes Physio Clinic in Fleet after my op and saw Jonathan who gave me very beneficial treatment and exercises. I am now 12 weeks post op and walking without aids and on my way to a very good recovery. Thank you Thorpes
