About Village Physiotherapy

Village Physiotherapy in Orpington, Kent, aims to provide a high-quality health care service for the people of South-East London and West Kent.

Our core approach is based on physiotherapy management of musculoskeletal conditions, but we also have professionals working in other areas such as sports massage, podiatry, acupuncture, Women’s Health and Pilates.

OUR SERVICES

  • Physiotherapy. We can help reduce your pain, get you on the road to recovery and return you to doing the things you love. We have a team of expert physios who use the latest scientific evidence to back up their experience in caring for people with musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Sports Injuries. Our experience in sports medicine means we can help you whether you are an occasional exerciser or a professional sportsperson. Our personal sports experience means we understand your issues and are well placed to assess and manage your injury for the best result. We have worked with World, Olympic, Commonwealth and European title holders.

Should you need a further medical opinion or investigation, we are based in the LycaHealth Diagnostic and treatment centre, with access to high-level specialists and state-of the-art diagnostic facilities.

As most sports injuries are overuse problems rather than injury as such, we have facilities such as video analysis to look exactly at what you are doing and help you correct any faulty technique.

We also provide advanced rehabilitation either to get you back to your normal level of performance or to advance to the next level.

  • Physiotherapy for Children. Paediatric physiotherapy is a very specialised area of physiotherapy, as children have different needs to adults and their tissues respond differently to injuries and stresses. Young children may have flat feet, bow legs or knock knees, older children may have knee pain, fractures, orthopaedic surgery or “growing pains” conditions such as Osgood-Schlatter’s.

Our specialist paediatric physios can assess your child’s problem to determine whether it is part of normal development or need treatment, a medical opinion or further investigation. We also have extensive experience in treating and managing sports injuries in children and teenagers, from recreational exercisers to elite international level teenage sportspeople.

  • Rehab before and after surgery. If your surgeon is planning to operate on you, we can help with a planned pre-operative assessment and rehabilitation plan to make sure you get the best from your surgery.

Post-operatively it is extremely important you get the best rehab to return you to normal strength, joint mobility and ability. We have a well-equipped gym and our physios liaise regularly with local surgeons to optimise treatment programmes.

  • Sports Massage. Sports massage can be very effective at easing stress and tension in your muscles and joints. It can reduce pain and improve your flexibility and energy levels. Our sports massage therapists are skilled in a number of massage techniques so we can find the right one for you.
  • Pilates. Pilates can build strength and mobility by increasing your bodily awareness and improving your postural control. Pilates can be a useful addition to any sporting or recreational activity.

We have classes during the day and the evenings, with a maximum of 9 people per class to allow the instructor to monitor and correct each person individually.

One-to-one sessions are available for those who prefer that, and we encourage any beginner to have a least one individual session before joining any classes.

  • Home Visits. We offer home visits (domiciliary physiotherapy) if you cannot manage to attend one of our clinics or prefer treatment in your own home. On the first appointment you will receive a full assessment and agree your goals with the physiotherapist.

We often see people who have had recent surgery after a fracture or operation as well as people facing challenges to their mobility. We can also assess and manage neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis (MS), motor neurone disease (MND) and stroke.

We cover South-East London and West Kent for our home visit service and also cover nursing homes and residential homes.

All our physiotherapists are full members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Village Physiotherapy covers Beckenham, Biggin Hill, Bromley, Chislehurst, Dartford, Eltham, New Addington, Orpington, Otford, Petts Wood, Sevenoaks, Sidcup, Southeast London, Swanley, West Wickham and surrounding areas.
