About K.M. Woods Physiotherapy - Kirkintilloch

At KM Woods Physiotherapy Kirkintilloch clinic, we offer specialised assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal pain problems, dance injuries, sports injuries, dizziness and other conditions.

Our clinics are modern and welcoming with up-to-date equipment and free parking. We can also offer weekend appointments and evening appointments.

Musculoskeletal Conditions

KM Woods private physiotherapy clinics are experts in the assessment and management of a wide range of musculoskeletal pain conditions and injuries. We can provide back pain relief, neck pain relief, ease sciatica or help you with a slipped disc. Our aim is to speed up your recovery and get you back to doing all the things want to.

Conditions we cover include acute back pain, chronic back pain, spinal stenosis, knee pain and leg pain, arthritis, joint pains, muscle strains and many others. We offer a range of physiotherapy treatments and our staff can also provide acupuncture, sports massage and Pilates.

Our clinics deal with over fifty people with whiplash neck pain every week, and our physios treat your neck pain with education, postural re-education, home exercises and acupuncture.

Dance Injuries

Our physios have dance-specific experience and can manage pain and injury, particularly in younger persons. We have experience in managing dance injuries in ballet, Irish and Highland dance and more modern types such as hip hop and contemporary dance. The flexibility and growth spurts that occur in teenagers may give short term muscle weakness, increasing the likelihood of injury during the repetitive practice and performances.

Musculoskeletal pain conditions we routinely treat include: foot pain, hamstring strain, shin splints, anterior knee pain, groin strain and Achilles tendonitis. Our physios can spot weaknesses in dance technique correct them to prevent ongoing problems.

Sports Injuries

We specialise in sports physio and daily deal with a wide variety of sports injuries and related conditions.

  • Running Injuries. Both fitness and elite runners are common in our clinics. Miles on the road, without enough preparation, can lead to injuries. We don’t just work on the injury but look at the person’s running technique to spot potential problems. Sports physiotherapy can then work on sufficient flexibility and strength throughout the running stride.
  • Football injuries include ankle sprains, knee ligament sprains, hamstrings strains, groin strains and knee cartilage injuries. We can home in on the problem structure and get you back into action as soon as possible.
  • Golfers continue playing until their pain problem interferes with their game and then turn up at our clinic. We can help with typical pain conditions including tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, upper back tension, shoulder restrictions and wrist pain.
  • Boxing injuries. We manage pain problems in boxers as the stiff, bent forward posture of the boxing stance often gives pain.
  • Gym trainers typically overtrain or use incorrect technique. After treating the injury, we can advise on good training postures and technique.

Domiciliary Physiotherapy - Home Visits

If you are elderly, unwell or have had a recent operation, we understand it may be hard to get yourself to one of our clinics. We offer a home visit physiotherapy service where we come to your home, assess and treat you in your own surroundings.

We can assist you with:

  • Impaired mobility and balance, especially in older persons
  • Post-operative rehab, e.g. after hip replacement, knee replacement or spinal operation
  • Stroke rehabilitation to continue balance and mobility work after NHS physio finishes
  • Falls
  • Walking aids and appliances

Vertigo & Dizziness

Dizziness or vertigo are difficult symptoms which can cause nausea, balance problems and inability to perform normal activities. This can be due to BPPV, Meniere’s disease, labyrinthitis or be without an obvious cause.

We assess and manage vestibular dysfunction and we have staff who can perform the Epley manoeuvre to restore the position of the inner ear crystals.

Workplace Assessments & Occupational Health

Conditions such as neck pain and back pain are a major cause of work loss, absence from work and pain amongst the working population. We are aware of the current legislation and can help both private businesses and public sector bodies towards optimising the health and wellness of staff.
