About K.M. Woods Physiotherapy - Clarkston

At Clarkston, KM Woods Physiotherapy offers expert assessment and management of a wide variety of joint and muscle injuries, sports injuries, pain conditions, light-headedness and dance specific problems.

Inside our professional clinics we work with modern equipment and we have spaces for you to park free. We know you are busy so we schedule appointments for evenings and weekends to suit.

Musculoskeletal Conditions

If you have a musculoskeletal pain problem or an injury, come now to KM Woods private physiotherapy clinic to take advantage of our extensive expertise in assessment and treatment. If you are after back pain relief, neck pain relief, relief from sciatica or are suffering from a slipped disc, we will speed your recovery and get you back to fitness.

We can help you with your acute back pain, chronic back pain, spinal stenosis, knee pain, arthritis, muscle and joint pains amongst other problems. Treatments we offer include acupuncture, Pilates, sports massage, vestibular rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

Many people with whiplash neck pain consult us weekly, and we specialise in the management of whiplash with education, advice, postural awareness, a home exercise programme and acupuncture.

Dance Injuries

As we manage musculoskeletal health in ballet, Irish and Highland dance and more modern dance types we have developed expertise and experience both in assessing dance technique and in dance injuries. Younger dancers may find that their flexibility and growth increases may give them a temporary degree of muscle weakness. This may make injury more likely during demanding sessions of dance practice and performance.

We see many musculoskeletal pain conditions such as foot pain, hamstring strain, shin splints, anterior knee pain, groin strain and Achilles tendonitis. Dance technique can be analysed for problems and corrected to prevent further problems.

Sports Injuries

Our physios are highly experienced in managing sports injuries, assessing and managing many daily.

  • Running Injuries. Our physios assess and treat both recreational and high-level runner with typical overuse problems. We’ll deal with the issue at hand but highlight the risky aspects of the person’s biomechanics or behaviour to forestall further difficulties. We can then concentrate on achieving flexibility, strength and muscle balance.
  • Football. As football is a contact sport, there is a greater number of potential injuries which may include sprained ankles, damage to the knee ligaments, hamstring pulls, groin strains and knee cartilage injuries. Knowing football injuries well, we can see the problem quickly and get you back on the pitch as soon as possible.
  • Gol. If you’re a golfer you know that any pain problem can interfere badly with your round. We see golfers regularly with conditions such as tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, upper back stress, shoulder pain and wrist pain.
  • Boxing. We have boxers who consult us about their specific pain and injury problems which are unique to their chosen profession. We repeatedly see the upper body pain and stiff, forward-bent posture used in sparring and fights.
  • Gym training brings its own set of pain problems and injuries as people push too hard or use poor exercise technique. Good training habits and correct exercise performance are as important as treating the pain or injury itself.li>

Home Visit Physiotherapy - Domiciliary Visits

If you find it inconvenient or too difficult to get to one of our locations, we can come to you and do our assessments and treatments at your home. This can be a boon if you are medically unwell or find mobility difficult after an illness or operation.

We can help manage:

  • Poor balance and mobility, especially in older persons
  • Post-operative rehabilitation, after joint replacement or spinal operation
  • Stroke rehab, continuing work on balance and mobility after NHS physio completion
  • Falls
  • Walking aids and appliances

Vertigo & Dizziness

Poor balance, nausea and significant impact on normal life can result from having vertigo or dizziness. We specialise in the assessment and management of vestibular dysfunction due to BPPV, labyrinthitis or other cause.

We rehabilitate people with vestibular dysfunction, where the ear canals are not working well. Our physios use the Epley manoeuvre to restore inner ear crystals which have moved into a poor position.

Occupational Health & Workplace Assessments

Significant amounts of work loss, sickness absence and suffering in the working population are caused by musculoskeletal pain conditions. We are familiar with current regulations and can help you optimise the health and wellbeing of your staff, whether you are a private business or a public sector body.
